Another cool way to use the Google Maps API. Developers have been making mashups around the API like there’s no tomorrow. Because getamap.com and tinymap.com was taken the fellows behind UseAMap.com settled for that instead.
The site lets you find a spot on earth using Google maps and simply by clicking on the area it gets marked, then you click on “Save This Location“, enter the unique URL you want, the description, email and password for changing it later on and you’re done.
You can then embed the map in a blog or website or just send the link via email to other people. Clicking anywhere on the map asks you if you need driving directions, don’t know if it works outside the U.S, the creator of the map can add pictures and change map settings afterwards as well.
Overall a handy service, could definitely see the use of it in everyday life. Plus it’s easier to remember than those long urls that Google usually spits out for a location with their maps.
